What is needed for the Thermastore HHR storage heater to work effectively?
- An economy electricity tariff eg Economy 7, Economy 10 etc. It is designed for use with the Economy 7 tariff
- One meter. Sometimes E7 has 2 separate meters ( this is the older way ) Our product needs a modern dual rate meter that provides 24hr electricity but switches to reduced rate during the E7 hours.
How is the Thermastore HHR storage heater connected to the mains electricity?
- Thermastore HHR heaters need 24hr supply of electricity with cheap rate during the night ( E7 tariff )
- Firstly the property must have the Economy 7 tariff. The E7 meter must be a dual tariff rate switching meter or smart meter.
- The Thermastore HHR requires just one fused spur connection. The E7 charge and the daily heating is provided from this one connection.
- The Thermastore HHR is programmed on installation with the correct E7 times for charging. During this time the storage elements will put heat into the storage core at cheap rate. The amount of charge taken will be determined by the built in charge algorithm. Only the charge needed will be taken thereby minimising the electricity use. The Thermastore is also programmed to know what room temperatures are required in the room at what times. The Thermastore will use small amounts of electricity as required during the day to run the fan which will extract the heat from the storage core to achieve the desired room temperature.
- If extra heat is required then the built in direct acting element will be used to boost the room temperature if necessary.
